  • Tanzania Entry Visa and Passport Requirements

Most tourists visiting Tanzania from overseas will require a valid tourist visa

Visas can be purchased upon arrival at the airport, but you can expect long queues, and for the process to take an extra hour or more that is why we highly recommend that travellers get their visa in advance if at all possible.

The visa fee for most nationalities will be US $50 for a single entry. Visa fee for a double entry is 70USD. For US citizens the fee is usually US $100 for a multiple entry. Tourist visas will be valid for 3 months from the issue date.

You may also be asked to provide proof of your return flight (such as an itinerary) when applying for your visa and proof that you have sufficient money to support yourself during your stay in Tanzania.. If applying at a mission or consulate, you will also have to provide 2 passport photos.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the time of your trip.

Vaccinations

You are legally required to have a Yellow Fever Vaccination TWO WEEKS BEFORE YOU LEAVE for the trip. An International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever is now an administrative requirement for entry to Tanzania.
Local Travel Clinics also recommend that you have a Tetanus and Typhoid vaccination before you head to Kilimanjaro. These can be done at the same time as your Yellow Fever Vaccination.
Malaria Tablets are highly recommended – chat to your Travel Clinic about the various tablets that are available and when you should begin taking them. Some tablets can be taken a week before your trip, others two days before and others the day before.
